my creative spirit.....

Heralding from a long line of creative *Bricoleurs*, it was only natural to carry on the quirky family traditions of breathing new life into unusual treasures to make contemporary and wearable curios.

In particular my seamstress Nana fueled her curiosity for pre-loved transformations by her volunteer work in the most marvelous charity shop in the 60s. Spending time with her during this period I inherited her passion for finding wonderful pieces of vintage couture as well as anything else that held a curious nostalgic feel.

This trend has now become de’ riguer and like many crafters worldwide my mantra continues to be based on the three mantric R’s:       recycling,  repurposing  and  responsibility

Both ruby red studios and Ruby 2 Go Go combine this philosophy and searching for sustainable alternatives has become part of the addiction to my creative process. You’ll find nostalgic pieces from Australia, mixed with gorgeous collections from Japan and throughout the globe as well as new handmade designs with an equally nostalgic eco twist

So enjoy the quirky uniqueness that keeps rolling out from the studios here in Brisbane and know that both you and I are doing something small to feed our creative and ethical souls and sustain our world.

A sense of community and the opportunity to share this crafty world of ours with like-minded, creative souls came about in 2008 with the formation of the Brisbane based Etsy Street Team - BrisStyle. Now a not for profit incorporated collective with nearly 300 members, it is an honour and a pleasure to be involved with and serve so many passionate and inspirational women.
